About Our Kids Music Lessons in Belfast

Music has always been at the heart of Aoife Cormacain’s life. She began teaching at just 18 and quickly discovered a love for helping others learn and grow through music. Although her career initially took her in a different direction, working as a language teacher and in management roles, she ultimately returned to her true passion: teaching music. Determined to become the very best teacher she could be, Aoife retrained and deepened her expertise. She holds a PGCE in language teaching, a DipLCM in Piano Teaching, and has trained in violin pedagogy through the internationally respected Suzuki Method. As an accredited Music Mind Games practitioner, she brings a creative, hands-on and engaging approach to every lesson.
Students at Big Belfast Music School benefit from a warm, supportive and inspiring environment where progress is celebrated at every stage. Aoife is passionate about nurturing confidence, creativity and a genuine love of music—not just technical ability. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing her students grow and watching their families share in their achievements. Alongside her teaching, Aoife is also the founder and director of the Big Belfast Choir, giving students a real connection to Belfast’s vibrant musical community. She maintains an Enhanced DBS check, offering parents complete peace of mind.

Alongside the flagship Big Belfast Choir, it includes a Blokes Choir, pop-up pub choirs and a range of musical events. Aoife also runs the Big Belfast Music School, where she teaches piano and violin to children aged 4 and above.
